This app presents stress intensity factors of cracks K. The stress intensity factor of a crack represents the intensity of crack tip stress distribution. There are three different crack opening modes: mode I tension; mode II in-plane shear; mode III out-of-plane shear.

The K concept is of special value for studies of fatigue cracking in metallic structures. In the use of fracture mechanics, estimates of K for potential or real cracks are commonly needed.

• This app determines the geometry factor and stress intensity factor for a given configuration and crack length.

• Central and edge cracks.

• Cracks at holes and notches.

• Cracks in cylindrical and spherical shells.

• Metric or Imperial units may be used.

• The equations used are displayed in a PDF file.

• The results may be shared using an email option.
